メキシコに行ったときに教えてもらった、伝統紙アマテの制作方法を参考に作品にしました。並べた木の皮を石で叩いて紙にする樹皮紙の一種です。
記録するための地としてあまりに普通に使用している紙も、実は構造物であり、形成される過程で時間や環境、出来事などいろいろな事物が交錯した痕跡でもあります。
木の皮を並べる際に使っていたガイド線を、版にして、出来た樹皮紙の上にガイド線を再度現しました。紙ができる過程で生じる、ずれやぬけに道を辿り直すことで気が付きます。
I made this work based on the method of making traditional paper amate, which I was taught when I visited Mexico. It is a type of bark paper made by beating the bark of lined trees with a stone to make paper.
Paper, which is so commonly used as a ground for recording, is actually a structure, a trace of the intermingling of various things such as time, environment, and events in the process of formation.
The guide lines used to line up the bark of the trees were used as plates, and the guide lines were reappeared on the resulting bark paper. By retracing the path, one notices the misalignments and omissions that occur in the process of paper making.

メキシコに行ったときに教えてもらった、伝統紙アマテの制作方法を参考に作品にしました。並べた木の皮を石で叩いて紙にする樹皮紙の一種です。
記録するための地としてあまりに普通に使用している紙も、実は構造物であり、形成される過程で時間や環境、出来事などいろいろな事物が交錯した痕跡でもあります。
木の皮を並べる際に使っていたガイド線を、版にして、出来た樹皮紙の上にガイド線を再度現しました。紙ができる過程で生じる、ずれやぬけに道を辿り直すことで気が付きます。
I made this work based on the method of making traditional paper amate, which I was taught when I visited Mexico. It is a type of bark paper made by beating the bark of lined trees with a stone to make paper.
Paper, which is so commonly used as a ground for recording, is actually a structure, a trace of the intermingling of various things such as time, environment, and events in the process of formation.
The guide lines used to line up the bark of the trees were used as plates, and the guide lines were reappeared on the resulting bark paper. By retracing the path, one notices the misalignments and omissions that occur in the process of paper making.
